Couldn't listen to this much..

But hey, it seemed great, had really cool sound design! Sounds like something in a video game tbh.

The arrangement is SUPER reminiscent of DnB and House arrangement

Mixing was nice.. although I think the bass sounded kindof muddy.

Overall, pretty good!

Aalasteir responds:

Thank you so much! Sorry about the bass.

Chords are so nice! They sound very analog. What VST did you use? Sounds kindof like June-6 by Arturia, or Spitfire LABS

Melody is very angelic and nice. What reverb/delay is that?

Mixing is good!

Arrangment is simple but nice.

Drums are very angelic, I like how the kick isn’t sidechained to the bass. Speaking of..

The bass is really nice! Although it kinda shakes my desk (I have a subwoofer), it’s really nice!

Strings are awesome!

10/10

UrbanFields responds:

Thank you so much!:)

I have a digital reverb pedal from Empress. It's actually a guitar pedal, but very clean and has stereo in- and outputs. Most of the clean/bright reverb sounds I use with this pedal. I'm also a fan of the Ableton reverb for more sounddesign things. Superplate by Soundtoys is also very nice, but I'm not sure anymore if I used it on instruments in this track, but I used it on the master after pitching everything down 6 semitones.

I have a Yamaha Reface CS synthesizer. Not too expensive and heavily underrated in my opinion. for chords/soundscapes I love to use this synth (especially with soft modulation and LFO on the pitch).

The melody is from my guitar again with the Empress Reverb, but because everything is pitched down so much, it sounds like a synth. I didn't put my guitar in an amp, but directly into my interface (RME Firefox), which has great sounding Midas pre-amps.

For the analogue sound i love to use real cassetedecks, but with this track I used Casette by Wavesfactory. I love this plugin for MANY different instruments and genres.

For the bass I used a selfmade bass from a friend of mine.

For sidechaining I use Soothe by Oeksound. This pluin is the holy grail for gettin rid of annoying frequencies, works as a de-esser and also as a sidechain. It creates room without pushing other instruments away.

Thanks again for your comment!!

WOW!

The drums, chords, melody and arrangement are all done very well! At this point, I'm pretty sure what VSTs you used.. there really isn't much else to say! Everything is done very well! But then, why is this a 8.3/10..?

The bass is WAY too loud for me.. even at 8% volume, it hurts my ears and makes my desk vibrate. To prevent this from happening, I would strongly suggest the use of a spectrum analyzer like SPAN. Also, sidechain the kick to the bass. I can't hear the kick very well, so that would help. Just so none of your fans (in this case, me) have any issues in case they are listening on some special equipment. The 3d-printer on my desk is on one knee! Not to say anything mean though, I definitely understand how this would happen, as I used to not use any kind of spectrum analyzer, and only realized how much of a problem it was when I started using a subwoofer. Still, the bass pattern itself is very nice!

8.3/10!

P.S. How did you get your thumbnails???? I need to know!

Aalasteir responds:

Thank you, sorry about the bass. I make the thumbnails in Krita.

Very interesting!

Sounds quite similar to the other song you released earlier, <<Berry>>.

The chord progression and/or melody is very interesting, I haven't seen anyone else mix and write chords like that!

Drums are analog, sounds like something in a 16-bit video game.

Counter-Melody is interesting as well.

Arrangement is simple, but is very unique! The arrangement at the end (the last section where there are no drums, right before the last drop), takes a lot of inspiration from beat switches imo. Almost like there would be a beat switch, but it's swapped out with another drop. I really enjoy it, earned you a higher rating!

Mixing, effects and ear candy is good per usual.

9.2/10!

Aalasteir responds:

Thank you so much! I am really grateful to hear you think the chord progression and melody are very interesting.

...Crazy!

This isn't Indie, it's DnB... GOOD DnB in fact!

The drums are super nice, love it! It's very glitchy, and I feel like the hats take some inspiration from jazz, but that is probably just me.

The main melody and chords are super nice and glitchy, at this point I can't tell what VST it is, despite my best efforts.

The FX is the best part about the song. Despite it being a little obnoxious, (like KhaosKitsune pointed out) I still think it's great, and it's super glitchy and definitely gives "Ocean" vibes.

Arrangement is unique! Ear candy is a bit lackluster, but hey, it's still decent.

Mixing is done well.

Overall 9/10

Aalasteir responds:

Thank you. I will change it from indie to drum and bass.

The melody is Roli Studio, and the chords are Omnisphere.

Yes, I have taken inspiration from jazz, you are 100% right, and I apologize for the song having an obnoxious and annoying factor. I will try to mitigate that for future songs.

Thank you so much!

OMG!

Drums are SOOO NICE! Not a single issue anywhere! Mixed very well, they sound analog and gritty.

Main melody and chords are 100/5! Super amazing! I can't really tell what VST it is, although might be Omnisphere? Idk, the closest thing I have to those amazing chords and melodies is MASSIVE from Native Instruments.

Mixing is top tier! Super nice! And it doesn't even shake my house! (My subwoofer has been feeling amped-up recently)

Arrangement is simple, but very nice! Ear candy is subtle, but very interesting and needed! Also, the layers for the chords and melodies are very helpful for the immersion of the track.

The 808 is nice! Love how it works with the kick.

All the effects are crazy.

Overall 15/10

P.S. Why didn't anyone else review this song?? It's so good!!!!

Aalasteir responds:

THANK YOU SO MUCH @oChron1cTQ

I am grateful for you sharing your thoughtful review of the song. I am happy to hear you like the mixing, the melody, and the chords. Thank you so much.

Melody is Roli Studio, and the chords are Omnisphere.

A theory as to why people don't review songs is because people prefer to make jokes and make simple comments because they would like to have fun!

Drums are super unique, love it! Takes a lot of inspiration from jazz, which I love!

Main chords and melody are great, with plenty of layers. What VST did you use?

Bass is super nice, kind of reminds me of Spitfire LABS Bass, but that's probably just me..

Mixing is very nice, really emphasizes the chill feeling.

10/10!

B-RadGfromOV responds:

Thanks. The chords are samples chopped up.

EXTREME BASS! What VST did you use?? Did you make the sound yourself, or is this a preset? Very nicely mixed!

Vocals are super unique, although mixing could get better it's overall great!

The chords are nice, but I can't hear them very well.. It doesn't make a difference though.

The main melody is very nice. Complements the vocals well!

Drums are nice, simple, and groovy. They are mixed well too! Interesting sound selection! I really like the drumFX.

Ear candy and FX are rolling! Super nice!

Arrangement is very nice! Reminds me of a lot of EDM arrangments. Also, this is not pop. It's something way better.

Entire song is mixed well, 10/10

JamesHeart responds:

I mixed an Omnisphere sub with IN Massive and put a few FX on and EQed it so only low frequencies can be heard. i also EQed the rest of the song to be open for the bass

had some trouble with hardware and need to figure out what's causing my mic to be so sensitive

chords are in there but i was more focused the atmosphere and Arps

I'm glad my voice works with the music ^^

Drums are some of my favorite things to play with

Thank you for this lovely critique

Im not sure what Genre this is to be honest XD

Super groovy! Love this!

Bass in very nice! Although, it's kinda making my subwoofer shake my house down. It's fine though! (If this concerns you, I suggest using a spectrum analyzer like SPAN to see if there are any parts of your mix that are too loud.)

Arrangement is really nice! Keeps me playing the song!

The hats are softer than the last song I reviewed, which is definitely and improvement! The kick is a cool choice, Although I think the snare is too quiet..? I just can't really hear it when the ride/crash cymbal plays.

The main chords and melody are 10/10! Keep up the work! Sounds like Omnisphere or Nexus.. But I'm not sure..

The entire song is mixed VERY well (except the bass, but hey, I don't think it's a big deal.. it's still mixed decently and that's what matters)

10/10!

Aalasteir responds:

Thank you so much! Yes, both the chords and melody are Omnisphere.

Thank you for your advice, I will take that into consideration when I make more songs.

Are there any chords/rhodes? If there are, what VST did you use?

Same with the melody and layers, they are super nice!

Bass is smooth!

Drums are nice, with really nice counter-snare/hat patterns, although I guess the snare could have more rolls/fills, which would create more diversity.

Entire song is mixed well.

Arrangement is simple, but nice!

9.5/10

im-leia responds:

the rhodes were from FL Studio FLEX, i believe
a lot of those melodies were preds! he did such an amazing job on them
